Ilkley and Yorkshire - Nearby Cities
There are perhaps four big cities within easy reach of us. Harrogate harrogate.gov.uk has a certain splendour as a spa town Leeds leeds.gov.uk is rapidly becoming to many the Capital of The North, with 'Harvey Nick’s', it’s Mediterranean style cafés and waterfront areas.
Bradford bradford.gov.uk has The National Media Museum nationalmediamuseum.org.uk (great on a wet day!) as well as cultural diversity and regarded as the Curry Capital.
York visityork.org doesn’t need any further introduction from us here!

A visit into the heart of The Yorkshire Dales National Park yorkshiredales.org.uk is essential. If you want to be eco-friendly, take the little Dalesbus directly from Ilkley to Grassington or the train to Settle, famous for the Settle & Carlisle Railway settle-carlisle.co.uk. Malham Cove and Ingleton are both popular places.

If you’ve got children aged 3 - 8, then the award winning Eureka! eureka.org.uk near Halifax will undoubtedly be the day out they’ll remember here!

Locally, for perhaps a half-day out try Saltaire - a nominated world heritage site and 'model' village, Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs for a flat walk, Golden Acre Park and the animal farm at Esholt (the village made famous as the film location for 'Emmerdale', before they had purpose-built sets constructed in the private grounds of Harewood House. We can tell you where you can still safely watch the action from a distance).
For more information about Yorkshire you should visit the official Yorkshire Tourist Board (we’re members) site at: yorkshire.com A good site if you’re visiting from overseas is visitenc.com which covers the whole of the North of England.
