Ilkley – our traditional spa town with the famous Ilkley Moor

We’re on the very edge of Ilkley Moor; over 1000 acres of Open Access Land for walking, running and a permanent orienteering course, plus bridleways for horse riding, mountain biking and even areas suitable for other sports such as rock climbing. Ilkley has a fantastic outdoor lido – one of the last in the north as well as an indoor pool, floodlit tennis courts etc.

Ilkley grew in Victorian times as an up-market spa town and we’re pleased that it retains its appeal for health and well-being to this day!

Ilkley is fortunate to have one of the last remaining outdoor lido’s in the North of England. Open from late May until Early September, there is nothing better on a fine summer’s day! You can take your own picnic (or use the café there) and there are extensive grounds to sunbath or just relax. See www.bradford.gov.uk for more details

Ilkley also has an indoor pool open daily throughout the year including several early morning and evening sessions. Times are displayed at Westwood Lodge.

There is a host of other sports facilities locally including floodlit and outdoor tennis courts and squash.

There are four local golf courses and day permits are available (in season) for fishing on the River Wharfe.
See www.ilkley.org for further information.

Walking, Running, Orienteering

There are a selection of on and off-road runs to choose from as well as a permanent Orienteering course. To print off a map click here.
This is a great group or family activity!

Cycling and Mountain Biking

We have a bike shed (please bring your own bike padlock). There is an excellent choice of circular on and off road routes starting from our door. Dave Ferguson (01756 795367) lives locally, runs a bike shop in Skipton and will gladly drop off bikes here to hire bikes. Wheelbase in Ilkley and Chevin Cycles in Otley are both good for spare parts and servicing.

Rock climbing and Scrambling

The Cow and Calf Rocks and Rocky Valley are both popular with experienced climbers.
